Rewinding a live channel without an archive (DVR / timeshift)

Some HLS / DASH streams keep the last minutes or hours of the broadcast in the stream itself (a “DVR window”). The app detects this (since 1.7.4.1) and lets you pause and rewind such a channel within what the stream keeps, even when the provider has no archive for it.

It works when:

• the channel plays with Use hardware codecs (see Choosing a codec);
• the stream keeps at least 5 minutes;
• the channel has no archive from the provider. For a channel with an archive the app uses the archive instead, see Watching the archive.

Turning it off

If it causes problems with your provider (playback does not start at the live point, the duration is wrong, seeking fails), switch it off (since 1.7.5.2, premium):

• Settings > Extended settings > Main screen > Enabled modules > DVR;
• or a shortcut to the same screen: press and hold OK (remote) or long tap (touch) a button of the home screen, such as Live stream, then Enabled modules > DVR.

Enabled modules is hidden in Simplified mode (Settings > Extended settings > User experience level).
